Arrival in Thessaloniki

So we left the hotel and the beach behind at around 1pm and got to Astoria hotel around 4pm. There was traffic on the way here so it took a while. We got settled in and walked around the area. It looks as if there is going to be some amazing shopping for me to do right up the street so i'm def. excited about that! Look out mom! We got dressed up tonight and had our welcome dinner and reception at the restaurant in the hotel and then got our assignments for the week of our internships. I get to go back to the Alexander Great Beach Hotel with the majority of the students and i'm pretty excited about that because its right on the beach! We only work 6 hours a day so i can spend the other 18 on the beach! lol My friend Ashton, whom i have come to love has to go to one of the other smaller properties, i'm gonna miss hanging out with her! We also got to tour the school tonight and its pretty cool. It's small but its civilized, so thats a good thing! Classes start tomorrow at 8am sharp so i'm probably going to be hitting the pillow soon. We will be here for the next 2 weeks and this weekend is going to be the free weekend. I have no idea what i'm doing yet though, any ideas anyone?? We'll be doing site visits after morning classes and lunches to various places so i'll keep ya posted. There isn't internet in the hotel, BUT i can walk over to the school and use the wireless in the computer lab they have here. I wouldn't really call it a computer lab though because they only have like 7 computers, 6 of which are working...haha it sucks...and another thing i'm mad about is that the phone's in the room DO NOT WORK...this means that i have to stand in the lobby to talk to anyone...i HATE that...it's so annoying! Plus, there's like a non-stop line for the phone, i'm like are you serious!?? GAY...so anyways, today's been tiring, we started off at the beach this morning and then made the trip here, but it does feel really nice to settle in at one place for 2 weeks though, i was really starting to get burnt out on traveling to a different hotel every night! Well, i'll post later. If anyone has any ideas on what i should do this weekend, let me know!

I think you should go shopping next weekend and by something fabulous. Shop and relax on the beach, like your on holiday! Try to find a nice greek bilingual person to friend, that should be interesting. Miss you.

Great, you are going back to Alexander the Great - right on the beach, cool! Use the weekend to shop, take pictures, people watch, get some beauty rest, shop, catch up with friends on the internet, shop, download pictures!

Annie, don't you know that "Greece" is greek for "Country of NO Ice"? . . . you should have plenty of muscles now from dragging all those bags around :-) . . . You have to be nice to the little old greek ladies and their kids . . . might be you next landlady there . . . Actually I agree with you. That was pretty rude, but the kid had to go.

Julie has a point "pee" sounds a bit better on a blog. BTW, did you know that "pee" in greek is . . . "pee" (just kidding - don't really know)
The reason you're getting all that cold food is to make up for no ice - see it balances out.

I saw your pics on facebook . . . AWESOME! . . . my favorite was the toilet in the monastery . . . the floor looked pretty clean, so I guess no one misses.

I'm really proud of you . . . Annie "The World Traveler".

It's great that you get to intern at the resort you wanted, most important is you get to be at a place that is civilized...the beach doesn't hurt either. I'm sure you will come up with too many things to do over your free weekend, this is a trip you will never be able to recreate so soak it all in for all of us. Enjoy yourself, I'm off to figure out facebook and look at your toilet pics.

Congrats on getting Alexander the Great. Jon would probably like to share some history with you on him. Can you say NERD?!!
Anyway, you should go shopping and buy me something awesome. Like a shirt that says greece on it or something. Or a dress (you know I'm into those lately). Or a beautiful ring size 8. Those are always a nice way to remember something.
Anyway, jon says to make sure you have a decent piece of baklava before you leave. So, when you're bored and don't have internet, why don't you start creating a greece book with iphoto? I'll buy it for you when you return, you just need to set it up. I think there's a button at the bottom that lets you pick your theme. Trust me, it's way better than printing pictures and you don't have to worry about losing them all when your computer crashes.
Have fun! It'll be over before you know it and then you'll just be a regular American again. Hee Hee. U S A, U S A!

I thought you went there to study. Sounds like you've been vacationing too much and having too much fun.

I would think a country girl like you would have no problem "peepeeing" anywhere you could find.

I think you should take the weekend to STUDY!
